Before the Christmas holidays, I went to the Keilor office to sign our construction drawings, to which my BC informed me she would be taking leave and returning on the 6th of January (I remember this date as it just happened to be the same date I was returning to work). Upon my return to work I sent her an email asking for an update on when we can expect things to start on site as well as to respark the conversation around inbetween floor insulation (thanks to a fellow HomeOne forum member who provided me some proof that PD can in fact install in a Waldorf with LED downlights). I received an Out of Office from my BC informing me she was on leave (no date on when she was returning).
I gave it another week and re-sent the email the following Tuesday asking for an update. It was then on Tuesday night I found other members discussing the frequency with which their BC's provide them updates... daily?!?!
So on Wednesday my wife called PD to ask our BC for an update, to which she was informed that we would receive a response on Thursday and that she had nothing to tell us just yet.
During this time PD contacted me via PM on the HomeOne Forums, asking for more details about my issues. To re-iterate what I stated to them:
1. I am not receiving any updates and to be told tomorrow without a reason why just isn't good enough
2. If I was in my BC's position, upon returning from leave the first thing I would have done would have been to find out the status of all my clients and give them an update
3. I just want to know when things are going to happen on site... roughly
PD informed me that they would escalate, to which resulted in me getting a call from my BC roughly 20 minutes later.
And this is what she had to say:
1. She had nothing to provide in the way of an update until the SS came in for their meeting on Thursday
2. She would provide me with an update on Thursday's moving forward (fortnightly)
3. That if I ever wanted an update to call her if I am unhappy with her response time to emails
I asked her if these would be updates about what had happened or is going to happen. To which she couldn't advise.
Eventually I managed to get the below our of her... which was HARD work.
1. Site was scheduled for cut today 14/01.
2. Slab completion is scheduled for 02/02.
What I don't understand is this. Why couldn't she just advise us of point 1 when my wife called earlier that day? If she wanted confirmation just advise us it was "scheduled", we understand things happen... but the fact she a) clearly wasn't across our file and b) couldn't be stuffed to load it when we first made contact is just incompetent! Either way, I have 0 confidence in her ability to manage my file effectively and will be making this clear to management.
Looks like it is going to be a long journey if this is any indication.
