So my wife and I managed to score a baby sitter (my parents) on Saturday and we thought we would use the time to visit the World of Style showroom.
Thankfully we did because even though we knew what we wanted from a style/colour perspective, we burnt 3.5 hours on Carpet, Tiles, Electrical and Kitchen selections.
A couple of things to note when visiting the World of Style showroom.
- Bring some money (small change) for parking. If all else fails and you can't find anything on the street, South Melbourne Markets are only 2 blocks away (around 3 minutes walk)
- Cafe 410 is AWESOME! Working in the city I have had my share of good coffee's, and the one I got at Cafe 410 was one of the best (Top 5). The staff are extremely friendly and happy to have a chat. Food looked awesome too if you wanted to grab a bite in between selections.
- Everyone says it, but visit as many times as you need/want. As I said above, we already had a good idea of what we liked and wanted, and we only managed to cover Carpet, Tiles, Kitchen and Electrical (the latter 2 barely) and we will need another visit before our actual colour selection appointments to bed everything down.
- Be prepared for a lack of willingness to talk pricing. Tiles, Tap ware and Electrical where the only sections we could find out an indication of pricing. Not sure if that had something to do with scoring the Argus team leader to talk to or if that's how they role :)
- Go early! We got there at 11am and had undivided attention until around 12:30pm.
- Lastly, not sure if it is necessary but be sure to book your visit. The website doesn't ask for a date selection, I think it has something more to do with them wanting to get an indication of how many people to expect. Book here: World of Style
Below are our current selections which hopefully wont change over the next couple of visits.
Kitchen
We love the colours here and door profiles. Might be a non negotiable upgrade. Thoughts here are base of kitchen to be same colour and profile, benchtop a white colour and overhead cupboards a white satin with 4 window profile. If you didn't guess by the pictures, Classic Hamptons/French Provincial is our style :). Pictures for our inspiration.

Tiles
This is where I want to take a risk, and I'm hoping it pays off. I hate dirty grout and don't want floorboards in the Laundry, Bathrooms or Master Ensuite so trying to find a tile which works with the floorboards we want could be difficult. Discussing this with the consultant in the showroom and sticking to my vision we fell for a black polished floor tile for the master ensuite with a travertine white/grey wall tile. For the Laundry/Bathrooms we are thinking of a similar tile in a lapparto finish (for better grip) in a black/grey finish or a more earthy tone (something to think more on). Image 3 shows the black/grey lapparto tile with the travertine wall tile. Image 4 shows the more earthy choice.
Sorry, not much to show/see here. We are opting for standard in the kids/guest bathroom and splurging on a double shower head in our ensuite. We wanted a waterfall head, however having some practicality here... when cleaning the shower we would need to fill a bucket using the waterfall head and then clean the shower. Also having showered at a hotel with a similar head and rose as the below, there is nothing better then having both going at the same time! Also pictured are the taps we like. Mizu Glance for all bathrooms/laundry fittings.
