Curtains, Blinds and Shutters

One of the issues with building such a big house, and messing with standard size windows (or not reviewing measurements before settling on window sizes) is the cost of Blinds, Curtains, Romans etc. when you need to get non standard sizes.

Initial quote from Birk Blinds came in at $18,000... OUCH!

Dollar Curtain and Blinds was $17,000, a little better.

BlindsOnline.com.au was $12,000... and the samples provided looked AWESOME!

Freedom ready made blinds totaled $1,300 on sale, Rods an extra $500, Sheer an extra $100 and Shutters from iSeekBlinds.com.au was $1200 ($200 savings per window when compared to BlindsOnline.com.au).

So from $18,000 to $3,000 for the whole houses blinds is a great savings. Even if we find we want to change them after a few years we are very happy with the purchase!

For those interested, we ordered 35 of the below for most windows. Each pack contains 1 Blind at 140 x 230. Some windows will require 2 blinds per side (total of 4) and we will look at joining the 2 on each side together so they look like 1 blind.
