So to start it all off my families background.
Having just welcomed our 3rd son into the world, our current 3 Bedroom (plus study) single story home just wasn't cutting it. My 2 older boys where sharing a room while baby 3 took over my second sons old room. So began months of deliberation... do we renovate, buy an established bigger home, or build again; this time something bigger.
My wife wanted some pretty specific things for her next home, and so the journey began to find the right block and house. Below are some of her requirements:
- All bedrooms on 1st floor, including masters
- Guest bedroom removed from main bedrooms
- Rumpus room and theatre rooms
- An upstairs Alfresco from the masters (Terrace)
- Sun filled living rooms (so the right siting on the block)
- Views from the Terrace
Finding the home was easy. Previous walk throughs at various display homes had us interested in the Waldorf from Porter Davis already, finding the block that complimented the house was posing a bigger problem! Sure we could find a block to fit the home in Gisborne within budget, however the house didn't site properly (poor use of Terrace - No views) or the suns path didn't hit the living area's!
After months of looking we finally found the perfect block! Views, best position for the house, perfect amount of sun throughout the day bathing the living rooms in glorious sun... so we moved on the block.
Over the coming months, this blog will hopefully capture our experiences, our likes and inspire others to take on challenge of building their dream home.
